Please update your bookmarks and click here to access the new site. Welcome to Central Michigan University's Physical Therapy Program Web site. Physical therapists are health care professionals who address the needs of patients and clients by helping them restore, maintain, and attain optimal physical function. Physical therapists work closely with other rehabilitation and health professionals to "provide services to patients and clients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes." Their primary goal is to help their patients achieve optimal health-related quality of life.
During
their educational preparation, physical therapy students receive
extensive academic preparation and develop skills in examination,
evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis and intervention that are grounded
in established theoretical foundations and scientific evidence.
