Joanne
Ellis Robertson Memorial Scholarship
for undergraduate and graduate students |
| Established
in 1993 by Pauline Ellis to commemorate her daughter Joanne, a 1950
CMU alumna. Ms. Robertson was a speech-language pathologist in the
Saginaw School District for 30 years. This scholarship, in
recognition of superior academic and clinical work in
speech-language pathology, is given to a junior, senior, or graduate
student with a minimum GPA of 3.25 overall. Preference is given to
residents of Saginaw county who have completed some part of the CDO
clinical experience and who have been involved in campus-wide
activities. Applications are available through the Department of Communication Disorders, 2161 Health Professions Building. |

Leslie
Gruber Memorial Scholarship
for undergraduate students, and for graduate students if no
undergraduates qualify |
|
Established in 1985 by Mrs. Jacoba Gruber, and family and friends, in
memory of here husband, Dr. Les Gruber, who as a professor in the
Department of Communication Disorders at CMU. Scholarship preference will
be given to undergraduate CDO majors having a minimum overall GPA of 3.00
and who have completed at least 18 hours in the major and who possess
strong clinical skills. If no undergraduate students qualify, then
graduate students may apply and be considered. The maximum award is $1000
per student. Applications are available through the Department of Communication Disorders, 2161 Health Professions
Building. |

George
N. and Ernestine R. Lauer Scholarship
for undergraduate (Junior year) students |
|
Established in 1988 by George and Ernestine Lauer in appreciation of CMU
and their family. The recipient must be a junior with a 3.0 or higher GPA,
majoring in Mathematics, Computer Science, Speech-Language Pathology, or
English. Preference is given to Michigan residents. If a recipient is not
identified within these majors, qualified applicants majoring in Biology,
Chemistry, or Physics will be considered. The scholarship may be renewed for
the senior year provided a 3.0 or better GPA has been maintained and the field
of study is continued. Change the last sentence to Applications are availbe
through the Financial Aid office. The CDO department does not
make the selection for this scholarship. Students wishing to apply for
this scholarship must request the application from the Financial Aid
office. |

Wilbur
Moore Scholarship
for undergraduate (Junior year) students |
| Established
in 1989, in memory of Wilbur E. Moore, a professor and the first
vice-president of academic affairs at CMU, as well as one of the
nation's leading authorities on speech and speech correction. Moore was also the founder of what was known as the Summer Remedial Clinics, now the Summer Speech Language Specialty Clinics. This scholarship is available to CMU juniors who are
enrolled as majors in one of the three existing departments, which
formerly composed the Department of Speech and Drama. They are:
Speech Communication and Dramatic Arts; Communication Disorders; and
Broadcast and Cinematic Arts. The award rotates among these three
departments each year. Faculty within the awarding department will
nominate and select the recipient, based on a demonstration of high
academic achievement and a record of strong leadership in his/her

Keith
L. Maxwell Scholarship
for graduate students |
|
Established in 1984 by an estate gift of Ellen Mercer Clark Maxwell in
memory of her husband, Dr. Keith L. Maxwell, who was a speech-language
pathology professor in the Department of Communication Disorders. To be
eligible for this scholarship a student must be full-time status, with a
minimum GPA of 3.00. Applications are available through the Department of Communication Disorders, 2161 Health Professions
Building. |

Alumni Scholarship
for
second-year SLP graduate students |
|
Established in 1998 through alumni support, for a second-year graduate
student in the Speech-Language Pathology Program in the Department of
Communication Disorders. Applications are available through the Department of Communication Disorders, 2161 Health Professions
Building.

J.
Dean and Betty L. Eckersley Audiology Scholarship
for Audiology graduate students |
|
Established in 1996 as a renewable scholarship for a graduate status
audiology student within the Department of Communication Disorders who
earned a minimum GPA of 3.5 as a senior with financial need as determined
by CMU. Preference is given to students from Isabella County, other
counties of Michigan, and transfer students from Mid-Michigan Community
College who were recipients of the J. Dean and Betty L Eckersley
Scholarship. Applications are available through the CDO Audiology
Division, 1183 Health Professions Building. |

Nicholas
P. Redfield Memorial Scholarship
for third-year Audiology graduate students |
|
Established in 1998 by colleagues in memory of Dr. Redfield for a
third-year Au.D. doctoral student who demonstrates a
"client-centered" approach in clinical performance. Volunteer
works and efforts to better the audiology program at CMU will also be
considered in selecting a candidate for this award. Applications are
available through the CDO Audiology Division, 1183 Health Professions
Building. |
