Admissions Process
The Physician Assistant Program uses CASPA, the Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistants. Please go to www.caspaonline.org to apply. The application deadline is October 1, 2007 for the 2008 entering class. GRE scores must be submitted directly to CMU College of Graduate Studies, Foust Hall 100, Mount Pleasant, MI 48859.

Course work taken at international institutions must be evaluated for U.S. equivalence by ECE [Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc.] and an official copy must be sent from the service directly to CASPA. International students must complete a PA I-20 Support form. Please visit www.caspaonline.org for more details. Applicants are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that demonstrates responsibility, integrity, veracity, respect and good judgment according to CASPA's Admissions Code of Cooperation. Applicants are expected to complete the application and submit all supporting documents to CASPA in a timely manner. It is recommended that applicants submit their application by early to mid-August as it takes CASPA 4-6 weeks to process an application once completely submitted.

Upon receipt, the applications will be promptly reviewed by the Physician Assistant Program Admissions Committee. The most qualified applicants will then be invited for an interview with the admissions committee. The interview is a very important part of the application process. Interviewed applicants will be assessed on traits such as professional motivation, knowledge of the physician assistant profession, academic performance trends, interpersonal skills, diversity of life and professional experiences, integrity, and orientation to health care provider role.

CMU provides students with disabilities reasonable accommodation to participate in educational programs, activities or services. Students with disabilities requiring accommodations to participate in class activities or meet course requirements are requested to indicate their needs in writing at the time they are offered admission into the program. Students who apply for admission to the Physician Assistant Program will be evaluated individually for their capability to perform in the role of a physician assistant as described by the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Candidates will be notified regarding their admission status by February 28. Those accepting an invitation to join the program will begin their studies in the summer semester (early May).
