ISABELLA COUNTY Assessment Survey
The Isabella County Michigan Health Needs Assessment Survey and
Analysis was conducted March through July 2002. The schedule
maintained for this project is presented below:
- Survey instrument development: September 2001 - March 2002;
- Survey instrument random household mailing: March - April 2002;
- Respondent survey instruments returned: April - May 2002;
- Data coding and analysis: May - July 2002;
- Report developed: July 2002.
Survey instruments were mailed to achieve a random sample of
households in the following areas of Isabella County:
- Primary Survey Method: 9,500 survey instruments mailed;
- Random mailing to homes in Census Tracts 1 through 12;
- Secondary Survey Method: 750 survey instruments at grant partner
locations;
- Mount Pleasant;
- Weidman;
- Shepherd;
- Total Surveys distributed: 10,250 survey instruments.
The survey instrument raw response rate was 13.9% (1428 surveys
returned) with the actual survey instrument response rate of 9.81%
(1005 out of 1428 surveys returned were useable; sample size [n]
analyzed was 1005 surveys [n=1005]).
General Demographic Information on Service Areas by County
It is critical to understand Isabella County demographic
characteristics and environment. It is estimated that approximately
64,000 to 67,000 people live within the county. The following tables
provide basic demographic information for Isabella County and include
surrounding counties that do not have a metropolitan area as
designated by the Department of Health and Human Services.
